Miranda aka Miss Hoop Tastic is a diverse performance artist and hoop instructor from Victoria, BC. Delighting audiences since 2010, Miranda started her performance journey with Fyre & Lyte, and since has been featured at numerous events, shows and festivals in BC and beyond. Herspecialties include multi-prop fire & flow arts, burlesque, belly dance, singing, emceeing and professional cat herding. She has participated in multiple hoop workshops over the years including those with the Poi Pixies, Valentina Martin, KiT, and various flow art workshops at MadSkillz Vancouver and Pacific Fire in Oregon. In 2011 she took Hoopdance Instructor Training and fell in love with teaching classes, followed by creating group performance choreography with her students at Passion and Performance in Victoria. Continuing her multi-disciplinary dance training in Vancouver she became a member of Radiant Heat, performing in the Fire Conclave at Burning Man in 2016, then again with Vancouver's Ember Arts in 2019. Now located in the Comox Valley, Miranda is an active member of Ignisia Circus and continues to teach with Island Hula Hoopla. She can also be found performing with Vesta Entertainment in Nanaimo and hosting various events across the West Coast. She values performing arts as a powerful platform for self expression, inspiration and social change. Dance is her medicine, and she is passionate about spreading the hoop love to all who want to learn! In this workshop you will learn the fundamental basics of Hoopdance. Whether you are a total beginner or have some experience, learning the foundations and how to break down tricks will be valuable for enhancing your skills and finding your flow. I will try to accommodate different levels of experience by teaching a variety of tricks. Material covered : - Foundational waist hooping - directions, stalls, scoop - Moving the hoop up the core of the body - the 'Snake' - Grips and surface switches - The 'Vortex' - Off-body horizontal hooping - 'Around the World', 'Helicopter', jump throughs - Vertical plane hooping - 'Warrior', 'Revolving Door', 'Through the Looking Glass', jump throughs - Isolations - one and two-handed and 'Iso-pop' - Transitions and finding your individual flow Depending on flow and experience levels, a handful of other tricks such as: - Anti-spin Flowers - Back roll and chest roll - One hoop behind the back 'Fountain' - The 'Escalator' with variations - Folds, passes and tosses - Foot hooping -Vertical who been with two hoops -Two and three beat weave with two hoops
